Jyotika’s story:
In 2002, after completing my Bachelors in Interior Design from CEPT, Ahmedabad, I made the transformative move to Chicago to pursue my MFA in Interior Architecture at The School Of The Art Institute of Chicago. Fueled by the allure of residing in one of the world's architectural havens, I immersed myself in the city's creative milieu for 8 dynamic years, embracing roles as both a design educator and a hands-on practitioner.
As my journey unfolded, I uncovered a tapestry of passions that stretched beyond the boundaries of interior design, with brand cultivation capturing my imagination. Returning to Mumbai in 2010, I embarked on a captivating expedition through the realms of branding and advertising, lending my skills to renowned agencies such as Landor, Ogilvy, and the in-house design team at Godrej Properties.
Then, in 2018, the stars aligned, and armed with a treasury of wisdom, expertise, and an unwavering design philosophy, I seized the moment to etch my own narrative. I saw a unique opportunity to empower individuals and brands to actualize their dreams in both the realm of interior design, and branding. With the universe conspiring in my favour, I took the leap with unwavering conviction, inspiring a new chapter filled with promise and possibility.
Madhavi’s story:
From a young age, I loved making things with paper, origami, and embroidery, which sparked my interest in design. This passion eventually led me to study interior design at the well-regarded School of Interior Design at CEPT, where I learned how to turn spaces into practical works of art.
Throughout my journey, I've had valuable experiences like working at Khosla Associates, starting my own design business called 'Insitu Design' in Bangalore, and contributing to projects at Godrej Properties in Mumbai. Then, in 2018, I teamed up with Jyotika to establish 'Walter and the Studio.' Our shared commitment to creating outstanding design experiences fueled this decision.
What drives me is the connection between imagination and real-life results in interior design, where I blend creativity with practicality. At 'Walter and the Studio,' our team works together effectively, combining our individual strengths to bring our clients' visions to life. Our main goal is to shape spaces that not only inspire but also enhance the human experience—every project we undertake tells a unique story that reflects the people who inhabit it.
